This retrofit is developed specifically for Audi A5, S5 and RS5 F5 models (2016–2019) and replaces the original MIB2 system with the latest-generation Audi MIB3 infotainment platform.

Gateway Variant Information

This product is available in two different variants depending on the gateway control unit installed in your vehicle. The correct variant must be selected to ensure full compatibility and proper functionality.

• Variant 1 – Gateway 8W5 / 8W7
  For vehicles equipped with a gateway control unit starting with 8W5 or 8W7.
  These vehicles support this retrofit with the standard component set.
• Variant 2 – Gateway 4M1 / 4M2
  For vehicles equipped with a gateway control unit starting with 4M1 or 4M2.
  These vehicles require additional components and a different hardware configuration to support this retrofit.

If you are unsure which gateway version your vehicle has, please contact us with your VIN before ordering. Selecting the wrong variant may result in incompatibility.

Sound System Variant Information

This retrofit is available in two different variants depending on the sound system originally installed in the vehicle. The selected variant is required to ensure full compatibility with the MIB3 infotainment system.

• Variant 1 – Standard or Audi Sound System
  For vehicles equipped with the standard sound system or Audi Sound System.
  These vehicles support the MIB3 upgrade using the standard audio configuration.
• Variant 2 – Bang & Olufsen (B&O) Sound System
  For vehicles equipped with the factory Bang & Olufsen sound system.
  On these vehicles, the audio system must be fully adapted to work with MIB3, which requires a different amplifier and reconfiguration of the audio wiring.

This is not an upgrade or change of the vehicle’s sound system. The variant selection is based solely on which sound system is already installed in the car and determines the scope of work required for the MIB2 to MIB3 retrofit.
